Brick is a traditional and modern building material, used for its structural and decorative functions in architecture. This terracotta parallelepiped is simple, practical and inexpensive. It can take different shapes, colors and textures and can be assembled, sculpted, painted or even enameled. These characteristics make brick an essential material. Although it has evolved very little throughout history, it remains very popular in the field of contemporary architecture. And in the field of design, brick is starting to make its way. While the waste generated by its use in construction forms a source of raw material, its symbolism and graphic particularities make it a subject that galvanizes creativity. The brick is an object offering an unlimited field of expression.

The exhibition “The Brick is displayed” presents the graphic work of the studio which offers an answer to the following problem: How to convert the brick - a raw, heavy and bulky material - into a poster - a light and flat artistic proof?
The brick is used here as a tool (stamp, matrix or typon), as a pigment (ink, oil or watercolor) or even as a material (brick pearl). The productions highlight the material that composes them and/or their creative process.
