Reliquaire industriel RI01

Collectible design

2026
With the rise of Christianity came reliquaries, boxes adorned with symbolic carvings from the most precious materials, intended to hold relics of saints. The studio aequo.design sought to transpose this idea of the sacred box, containing and protecting a fragment of past glory for eternity, to the textile industry's past in Northern France.
This immensely glorious past transformed the region and remains omnipresent today through memory, culture, and architecture, yet its activity has almost entirely vanished.

Through this metaphorical object, aequo.design offers a mystical interpretation of the textile factory. Is this industrial past perhaps becoming a legend?

Brick, the building block of textile mills, is used here as a precious material, sculpted and glazed, to adorn the industrial reliquary with symbols specific to this glorious textile industry past, such as the Jacquard cardboard or the shuttle of the looms.
