Terre de Râches Residency

Short-lived art installations
Le Non Lieu

2022

The old Pont de Râches brickworks is a remarkable site for its industrial heritage. Its history begins in 1903 and although the factory no longer produces to this day, the owner Gérard Duflot intends to continue to keep this place alive through culture. It is with the support of the Roubaisienne du Non-Lieu association that Gérard embarked on the project and created the “Terre de Râches” association. In this perspective, the Non-Lieu proposed to highlight the factory archives for restitution during heritage days.
Excited by the magic of this place, Tim and Arthur from studio aequo immersed themselves in its fascinating history. After classifying the archives by theme, they imagined reinterpreting this information through artistic installations. These installations are a reflection of the site's past, imposing and moving, made using only materials found on site.
In total, 6 installations come to inhabit the space of the factory without trying to hide what already exists. At the end of the exhibition, a table reveals the archives in chronological order and leads to the creative continuation envisaged by the association.
