FR_ En 2023, le Palais de Tokyo confie à aequo.design la conception et la fabrication d’une gamme Design de produits dérivés à destination des visiteurs du centre d’art contemporain mais aussi destinés à faire rayonner ce lieu emblématique hors les murs.
La collection OBJ se place à la frontière entre design et art contemporain. Les objets se comportent comme des mini œuvres à l’usage volontairement imprécis, restant à déterminer par celui qui en prendra possession. En ce sens, l’objet invite son détenteur à prendre part au processus créatif en imaginant un usage personnel et ainsi s’approprier davantage l’objet.
La forme et la matière sont à l’origine de l’objet. Elles sont le premier niveau de lecture et correspondent au «souvenir du lieu». Le deuxième niveau de lecture se trouve dans la fonction. L’objet surprend et interroge le visiteur qui est invité à l’expérimenter. C’est le «souvenir expérientiel». La collection d'objets est comme une continuité du Palais de Tokyo. Elle propose au visiteur de poursuivre et partager son expérience.
La collection reflète la politique de “permaculture institutionnelle” initiée par le Palais de Tokyo. Les objets sont dessinés spécialement pour le centre d’art et fabriqués de manière artisanale à partir de matériaux industriels standardisés. Les produits et packagings sont entièrement fabriqués en France.

EN_ The Palais de Tokyo has entrusted the multidisciplinary design studio aequo.design with the design and manufacture of a Design range of derivative products intended for visitors to the contemporary art center but also intended to promote this emblematic place beyond the walls.
At a time when the objects push intuitiveness to the extreme without leaving room for inventiveness, the OBJ collection designed for Palais de Tokyo by the French studio aequo.design proposes objects that you can use in many ways according to your needs and creativity.
The OBJ collection sits on the border between design and contemporary art. The objects behave like mini works with a deliberately imprecise use, remaining to be determined by whoever takes possession of them. In this sense, the object invites its holder to take part in the creative process.
The form and the material are at the origin of the object. They are the first level of reading and correspond to the “memory of the place”. The second level of reading is found in function. The object surprises and questions the visitor who is invited to experience it. This is the “experiential memory”. The collection of objects is like a continuation of the Palais de Tokyo. It invites the visitor to continue and share their experience.
The collection reflects the policy of “institutional permaculture” initiated by the Palais de Tokyo. The objects are designed especially for the art center and handcrafted from standardized industrial materials. The products and packaging are entirely made in France.
